Wonky Lolly

I made ice lollies for my Sister & her man last weekend.  I had to improvise a bit as I'd left making these till the last minute and couldn't find any ice lolly sticks,  so I used 3 wooden skewers ( cut the spikes off !)  which seemed to work ok. I used a combination of rum and coconut milk, pineapple juice,  apple juice, peach smoothie and cherry juice. I poured the first layer into the lolly mould with the sticks held in place stuck through a piece of cardboard. I put it into the freezer tilted at an angle for a couple of hours, took it out, poured in another colour and repeated tilting it the opposite way each time. So simple, but I think they look really pretty!

Our colourful indian bedspread came in handy as a picnic blanket.

Anna bought me peonies that opened up in about 30 seconds, so beautiful!

Love Letters

I got crafty with the cardboard a couple of months ago, to make giant letters for my sister in law's wedding. Here are some images to show how simple they are to make.

1:Hand drawn letters cut out from a cardboard box ( all bottom edges are flat so they don't roll!)
2: Rough cardboard bases, held together with brown tape.

3: paper mache layer

4: Finally a layer of polyfilla and white paint.

& Others.....

Table numbers made for my wedding using the same process.
A present for my sister at the polyfilla stage.

and below all moved in.

Christmas Bits and Bobs

We put our Christmas tree up last week. We are a bit short on decorations, so I made a garland that I had seen a while ago on Oh Happy Day. It gets a bit addictive! I really wanted to go to bed, but couldn't stop !

Rainbow Cake

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

how do you make a gif
I made this rainbow cake for my sister's joint birthday meal. As it was a double wammy, I felt like making a super show off cake! This was the first cake I have ever made, I followed the brilliant instructions for the sponge on the Whisk Kid Blog , borrowed all the equipment and watched a video on how to make it, so there was no way it could go wrong! I was inspired by the sprinkles on the Half Baked blog for the icing which also had ace fool proof instructions!

Happy One Year Boy Next Door

Nick and I celebrated our first year wedding anniversary on Monday. I can't believe it's been a year already.  It has been brilliant, but it's gone so quickly it's scary.

Nick and I lived next door to each other when we were kids, So our first dance was to  'Two doors down' by the Mystery Jets.  Brings me right back to the day whenever I hear this.

Family Holiday

We went to Majorca last week on our  family holiday.  It was lovely to have some good catch up family time. Seven of us went,  but my youngest sister Lily spent half of the trip in hospital, which put a bit of a dampener on things! Here are some photos of our week.

Last day of the holiday, in beautiful Palma.

Market day in Polenca.

Mum telling a cracker.

I loved this cover to the market, It was a wild blustery day and it looked so beautiful flapping against the stormy clouds.

Every evening, same time, same place......
